7 Q’s With Casey

Breakfast or dinner? Describe your ideal meal.

Breakfast, no question. I’m not very adventurous when it comes to food, so I love the classics. A good omelet with some meat and veggies mixed in never fails.

How did you come to be at Caliber?

The cliff notes version would be something like this: Almost 15 years ago, I took the leap with my then-co-worker Brad to try our hand at running our own small, creative agency. After several bar-napkin plans and supportive spouses, we swung open the doors of Caliber (those same doors were to a basement bedroom). Since then we’ve been fortunate enough to build a great team and find some amazing marketing partners to keep the lights on.

Recommend a book, movie, music album, etc. – a favorite or something you’ve consumed recently.

I’m a sucker for a good audiobook or podcast lately. I’m into almost anything that is interesting – no matter the source or the platform. I listen to a lot of Joe Rogan podcasts, I’ve also been following along with a lot of regenerative ag content lately (which is pretty fascinating) and I get several Spotify playlist recommendations from my friends that are trying to keep me on the bleeding edge of the music scene.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self or someone early in their career path?

You’re never going to have all the answers, but don’t let that hold you back from trying. You’d be surprised how much you learn simply by getting involved and keeping an open mind.

What skill, hobby, or experience do you have that would surprise people?

One unique experience for me was, flying out to NYC about 10 days after 9-11. We visited NYC as part of a class trip for SDSU graphic design and needless to say our group was pretty nervous flying out, given the terrible things that had just happened. It was a humbling experience I’ll never forget.

What’s a cause that you are passionate about and why?

Currently, I’m doing my best to get involved in supporting whatever my wife and kids are passionate about. Whatever that may be, I’m trying to be supportive and interested in their adventures. Seeing them succeed and enjoy themselves keeps my cup full.

Describe your perfect day.

Generally, I enjoy being outdoors and unplugging for a bit. Whether it’s hunting, working at the farm, or just enjoying the outdoors with friends and family. Those days tend to help keep me grounded and give me some space to think about all the things going on at the office day to day.
